HSW1008_A – Workplace Wellbeing (2 Days)

OVERVIEW

Mental illness is expected to be the second biggest health problem affecting Malaysians after heart disease. According to the latest National Health and Morbidity Survey, every three in 10 adults aged 16 years and above in Malaysia suffer from some form of mental health issues. Among the possible factors that may contribute to this more than two-folds rise over the past 10 years include financial difficulties, unemployment, work–related stress, family issues for example marital discord, poor parenting and other environmental factors. Despite the availability of effective treatment, a person with mental health disorders may not seek help due to various factors like social stigma or other reasons related to their belief. Most people who experience mental health problems can get over them and learn to live with them, especially if they get help early on. This course will introduce participants to common mental health disorders, possible signs of distress and provide information on how to seek assistance when required.

  • The aim of this mental awareness is to help participants recognize potential signs of distress in other members of staff. The idea is not for them to become experts in mental health, but to at least be able to spot if someone needs support and to be more sympathetic.

At the end of the training, participants would be able to:

  • Define mental health
  • Identify symptoms of mental health problems
  • Discuss why it is important to support mental health in the workplace
  • Discuss strategies to support mental health at work
  • Typically spans 2 days (9am to 5pm).
  • Nonetheless, we can customize both the program’s duration and schedule to cater to unique client requirements (e.g., compact 1-day workshops or extended sessions beyond 3 days).
  • Employees at All Levels
