MSS1006_A – Becoming a People Manager

OVERVIEW

Middle managers play a critical role as the bridge between senior leadership and frontline employees. They are responsible for translating strategy into action while developing and leading teams that deliver results. As future organizational leaders, middle managers require strong people management and emotional intelligence skills to succeed in today’s complex and demanding work environment.

Managing people is inherently challenging. Leaders often face difficulties related to communication, motivation, engagement, and performance—particularly within diverse teams and high-expectation settings. Poor people management can result in disengagement, high turnover, unresolved conflicts, and declining productivity, all of which directly impact organizational performance.

This highly interactive and dynamic program introduces the core people management and emotional intelligence skills required for middle managers to lead, motivate, and build cohesive, results-oriented teams. By strengthening self-awareness, communication, empathy, and interpersonal effectiveness, participants will be better equipped to improve team performance, reduce turnover, and cultivate a positive and productive workplace culture.

By the end of this program, participants will be able to:

  • Understand the factors that shape their management style and leadership priorities
  • Enhance self-awareness, emotional self-control, and intrinsic motivation
  • Improve communication skills for influence, conflict resolution, and rapport-building
  • Respond empathetically to others’ emotions, needs, and perspectives
